Our Tickets and Fares
Are you a young person (11-19) who needs to use the buses regularly?
Children and teens between 11-19 years old can try the Chalkwell Youth Card. Buying a Youth Card from us means that there are no restrictions on times of day or days of the week that you can travel on our buses within Kent and Medway.
We also accept Kent County Council Travel Saver and 16+. Kent Travel Saver passes enable free travel 6am to 7pm Monday to Friday, between 1 September and 31 July. £2.50 all other times.
16+ Passes enable free travel with no time or day restrictions.
Are you an adult and a regular customer on our buses?
Why not consider our Adult Saver Ticket?
Holders can use the Saver pass to travel on our local bus services during the dates on the pass. There are no time restrictions, we accept passes at weekends, and there are no limits to how many times a day a holder can use their pass.
Do you travel by bus occasionally?
Single fare cap on the Chalkwell Network at £3.
Return fares are available on all services, and vary according to the distance that you want to travel.
Are you over 66 and want to use the bus?
We also accept English National Concessionary Travel Passes (ENCTP) between 0930 and 2300 Monday to Friday and all day at weekends. Outside of these times the full equivalent fare will be charged.
Are you travelling with children?
Children under 5 will be carried free of charge when accompanied by a fare paying passenger, up to a maximum of four children per fare payer. Fifth and subsequent children will need to pay the appropriate fare. Child fares are charged at 50% of the equivalent adult fare.
Children 5-16 or 16-18 in full time education can purchase child fares after 0900 Monday to Friday and all day at weekends. Child fares are charged at 50% of the equivalent adult fare.
Are you travelling as a group?
Groups of up to 5 people can travel together on a Group Ticket for £16.50.

Who can get one and how can I use it?
This card is available to anyone between the ages of 11 and 19. You don’t have to be in full time education to have a Youth card but you must be able to provide proof of ID to prove that you are 19 years old or under at time of purchase.
Holders can use the Youth pass to travel on our local bus services within Kent and Medway during the dates on the pass. There are no time restrictions and we accept passes at weekends, and there are no limits to how many times a day a holder can use their pass.
You can also use your Chalkwell Youth pass to get to school or college!
Chalkwell operate bus services into every secondary school in Swale.
In Medway we serve the following locations with our 326/327 service from Sittingbourne, Newington, Lower Halstow and Upchurch:

- University of Kent School of Sport and Exercise Sciences

Who can get one and how can I use it?
If you are 17 or older and not in full time education then you will need to pay the full adult fare. If you are in full time education you will have to pay the full adult fare once you turn 19.
We also do a Youth card for anyone aged 11-19.
Holders can use the Saver pass to travel on our local bus services during the dates on the pass. There are no time restrictions, we accept passes at weekends, and there are no limits to how many times a day a holder can use their pass.
Any refund will be calculated for up to 40 weeks travel from date of commencement of travel and after that period no refund is payable. A refund will be calculated on the cost of the ticket less the cost of the number of 4 week, 13 week, 26 week and daily tickets that would have been necessary to cover travel on the expired portion. Refunds for tickets paid for by company cheques will be paid to that company unless authorised otherwise in writing by that company. A £35 administration charge shall apply to any refund.
No refunds will be issued on 4 week tickets.
